Spirituality
The pastor desires to live as Christ did, willing to lay His life down for the flock, His church. I Timothy outlines the qualifications of a pastor (elder), including being above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money, a manager of his household, keeps his children submissive, not a recent convert, and must be well-thought by outsiders (I TImothy, 3:2-7).
Interpersonal Skills
We are seeking a pastor who has relational communication skills, is compassionate, able to conduct expository and topical teaching, and provides distinct clarity in sharing the gospel.
Personal Qualities
The ideal pastoral candidate will care for and encourages all generations represented in our congregation.
Other Qualities
The pastor should be willing to understand the unique cultural dynamics of Vernal and the Uintah Basin; consisting of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and other churches, the Ute Native American Tribe, the primary source of employment being oilfield services, and the tourism industry. Collectively these aspects contribute to the uniqueness of our community.
